For this final project we are asked to research, develop and design a typography outcome that will feature within the show held by the British Library called “language and typography - a celebration”.
The aspect within typography that I have chosen is Typography classification. Also I am very interested in environment typography, always staring both sides of the street when I walk through; front shops, street signs... the environment if full of typography, typography is everywhere and present continuously on our lives. That is why I have chosen this subject, in this exhibition held by the British Library my goal is give the audience more information about those typefaces that we see everyday, everywhere.
In order to achieve my goal the idea is to analyse different typefaces that we can found in Oxford St.
After my research and initial ideas (that I'll explain in the next step) I decided to base my work in the project called "13 miles of typography on Broadway, from A to Z" (Click the image to see website). This project is the most similar to my idea.
"As the Main Street of Manhattan, Broadway exhibits a catalogue of lettering—from neon lights to mom-and-pop shop signs, from theatre marquees to building names. "
